Nicholas deGraffenried Keenan of Columbia, South Carolina, was born on September 21, 1957, in Camden, South Carolina. He passed away April 23, 2026 as a result of an ATV accident. Nick graduated from Spring Valley High School and attended Wingate University.
Nick lived a colorful and meaningful life, forming lasting friendships with people from all walks of life. He had a deep love for nature and for his loyal dog, Buddy. Known as “Nicky” in his early years, he found a sense of peace, purpose, and contentment later in life while living in the country near Columbia. There, he embraced the simple pleasures—cooking, the outdoors, and a quieter way of living. His great love and talent was photography. He loved landscapes especially those that involved water.
Nick will be long remembered for his generous spirit, kind heart, and the genuine care he showed to others.
He was the son of Margaret Saunders Jones Keenan and William Joseph Keenan III. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Christopher deGraffenried Keenan. He is survived by his sister, Margaret “Maggie” Jones Keenan of Shelby, North Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Nick’s life will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 am, Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
