Norman Bernstein

July 12, 2026 Montréal, Quebec Paperman & Fils

Peacefully, in his sleep, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in his ninety-ninth year. He lived a full and meaningful life without drama or fuss, always hard-working and pragmatic, with a positive attitude until the very end. He took immense pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He loved a good scotch, preferably with a side of shmaltz herring or a big Montreal smoked meat sandwich.

Norman was the loving husband of the late Noma Pinchuk. Beloved father and father-in-law of Arlene Bernstein-Marton and the late Barry Marton; Robert Bernstein and Estelle Katz-Bernstein. Devoted Zaidie Norm of Noah Marton, Brandon and Lauren Marton, Jordan and Carly Marton; Joel Bernstein and Vanessa Morin, and Andrew Bernstein. Delighted ‘great’ Zaidie of Arielle and Amelie; Liam and Rayden; and baby Eli.

Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Nathan and Edith, Jack and Frances Bernstein. Also predeceased by his in-laws Sydney and Miriam Pinchuk, Morty and Gilda Pinchuk, and Harvey Pinchuk. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Carole Shiller.

The family wishes to acknowledge the devotion and support of his caregivers, Bev Campbell and Gwen Myers, as well as the excellent staff of Maimonides, 3rd and 5th floors.

Norman always finished his Sunday family dinner with the expression “I’m gonna love you and leave you”, which he now has really done. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
