Patricia Ann Adams

September 25, 2026 Dignity Memorial

Patricia Ann Adams, 88, died September 25, 2026 in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born in New York City on April 2, 1938. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert J. Adams, and her parents, Leslie S., and Catherine Amison. Pat experienced the full promise of America: Her father immigrated alone from England to America at age 17 and worked in the shipyards, and her mother was one of ten siblings. She was a skilled sewer, and shared childhood accounts of sewing colorful feed sack dresses in postwar Allentown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Moravian University, owned the La Galleria store in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and worked at Mellon Bank. After moving to Florida, she was an aide to Palm Beach County Commissioner Carol Elmquist. She and her husband eventually savored summers in Virginia’s Northern Neck with the two greatest joys of her life, her granddaughters Abigail and Amelia Adams. She made coats and clothes for them, and passed summer days playing games and picking crabs with them. She spent decades documenting her family genealogy because she believed your history matters. Pat travelled in Europe and America, lighting candles in churches for her family. She is survived by her son Christian Adams, his wife Jana of Alexandria, Virginia, as well as her sister Rhoda Wessner. In her later years she often gave thanks to God for the blessing of having so many friends and caring staff at Paul Spring Senior Living in Alexandria. A Funeral Mass will take place October 9, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Basilica of St. Mary in Alexandria, Virginia. She will be interned at St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Hague, Virginia beside her husband at a later date. The family suggests that any memorials be made to Catholic Charities.
