Patricia Delores Mitchell

Patricia passed away at the age of 83 on August 12th in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she was surrounded by her daughter Lesma and her two grandchildren Alexis Ashley and Andrew.Patricia was born to James and Sarah Simms in the lovely Clarence Town, Long Island of The Bahamas. She was the sixth and last child of the family. Her mother passed away when she was six months old where she lived with her Aunt until she was 16 years. She became a Math and English teacher at a very young age before she moved to Nassau. After moving Pat met her ex-husband Vincent Mitchell and they raised 5 kids together.Pat, Patsy, or Grammy Missy as they called her lived a wonderful and filled life she worked at The Department of Statistics for 29 years deciding to retire early to care for her grandchildren. She spent most of her days after retirement volunteering her time at the soup kitchen and baking bread for friends and neighbours. She was an active member of Maranatha S.D.A church where she served a term as the Woman’s Ministries leader and at one point was a Sabbath school teacher. She enjoyed many activities but her greatest joy was to be able to interact and encourage anyone she came in contact with.
