Holocaust Survivor
Peacefully on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the age of one-hundred and one. Devoted wife of the late Adam Porepa for seventy-five years. Treasured mother and mother-in-law of Dr. Joseph and Marline Porepa, and Erna and Dr. Ilan Benjamin. Beloved grandmother of Elissa, Andrea and Josh, Michelle and Moss, Jodi, Liane and David. Proud great-grandmother of Micah, Joey, Aaron, Max, Charlie, Nina, Sari, Tillie, Alice, Robin and Russell. Predeceased by her parents Erna who perished in the Holocaust and Leon who was miraculously reunited with his daughter, and rebuilt a life in Canada.
Out of the ashes of Auschwitz, she arrived in Montreal with her young family, and through her resilience and strength, built a wonderful Jewish home. What evolved was a legacy that we share today and will endure for generations to come. Paula was admired for her outgoing personality, warmth and beauty. She will be dearly missed.
The family would like to express immense gratitude to Cecilia, Cora, Melinda and Dee for their love and extraordinary devotion.
