Randall Grant Shumway, lovingly known as Randy, of Avondale, Arizona, passed away on May 19, 2026, at Hospice of the Valley. He was born on April 30, 1943. Randy married Cathy Colby on February 19, 1966, and together they shared 60 years of marriage built on love, devotion, and family.

Randy joined the United States Air Force at the age of 17 in 1960 and honorably served a full military career. During his years of service, he worked as a food service specialist, served as a general’s aide, was an air passenger specialist, and later worked as an aircrew egress systems technician. On one mission, he had the distinguished opportunity to fly with President Lyndon B. Johnson, also known as LBJ. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant, a reflection of his dedication, skill, and commitment to his country.

Randy was the son of Eleh Lenore Thompson and Grant Shumway. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy Shumway; his sons, Tony Michael Shumway and Christopher Lynn Shumway; and his three grandchildren, Michael, Brandon, and Juliette. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew him.
