Dick was born on June 27, 1941, in Fultonville, New York, to the late Elmer Young and Lillian Mae Peeler Young. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph "Tippy" Young.Dick proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Howard W. Gilmore (AS-16) and the USS Fulton (AS-11). After completing his military service, he worked a variety of jobs, eventually starting a career with the Dexter Corporation, where he remained a valued employee until his retirement after many years of faithful service.The greatest joy of Dick's life was his family. He adored his beloved wife, Linda, whom he married in 1981. Together they shared 45 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Dick was a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known for his quick wit, his wonderful sense of humor, and the joy he found in making others laugh. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family and creating lasting memories together.Dick is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda Young; his four children, Lisa Young Fleming of Phoenix, Arizona; Laurel Kulas of Windsor Locks, Connecticut; Kevin Kulas of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and John Iacono of Enfield, Connecticut. He is also survived by his six cherished grandchildren, LiAnne Kosalski, Kaitlyn Fleming, Rachel Gilbert, Katie Simons, Alexandra Iacono, and Veronica Iacono; and three beloved great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Conor, and Ripley.Dick will be remembered for his love of family, his warm heart, his sense of humor, and the kindness he shared with everyone who knew him. His memory will forever be treasured by those whose lives he touched.A memorial service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, August 1, 2026, in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Home, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
