Ronald Wayne Scarbro

Ronnie Scarbro was a mighty man of God; a true crusader of the Cross. His life’s work was sharing the love of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, whom he finally met face to face on Saturday, August 22 at 02:18am. For most of his life, he faithfully served as a pastor, but his ministry was never confined to a pulpit. He was a mentor to those searching for direction, a counselor for those carrying burdens, and a prayer warrior who knew the power of bringing every need before the Throne of God. He faced all of the challenges of life with one simple phrase- “BUT GOD!”

He was a Tennessee Volunteers football fan, spending most weekends “pretending” to work while watching the Vols play inside Neyland Stadium. He loved to cook, and when he did, he had the same generosity as in every other aspect of life. There was always more than enough. He spent most of his days with his grandchildren, often doing ordinary things together, as the bond they shared meant that time together was never wasted. They truly lit up his world and filled up his heart. He and his Baby, married for 40 years, enjoyed trips to spend time in God’s most beautiful creation- they frequented cruises on gorgeous oceans, beaches, Cades Cove, and the Great Smoky Mountains. His life was a testimony of faith in action. He poured himself into others, investing his time, wisdom, prayers, and love into generations of people. The seeds he planted in the hearts of those he mentored will continue to grow long after his earthly departure. His influence will leave a lasting legacy- one that will echo into eternity and down the hallways of Heaven.

Ronnie Scarbro was preceded in death by mother, Catherine “Shirley” Selvidge, and his loving wife, his “Baby” of 40 years, Trish Scarbro. He is survived by his twin brother, Donnie (Jeanelle); brothers, Michael (Sherri), Cleo (Kim); daughter, Elaine Leonard; daughter Heather Monroe; granddaughter, Chelsie (Josh) Welch; grandsons, Austin, Nathan, Chase, Deven; granddaughter, Katelyn; great grandchildren, Kyree, Elisha, Harper, Trinity, Jesse; Very special friend, David (Judy) Ruble, and many “adopted” nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
