Sarita Cortines Luera of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on August 14, 1935, in Goliad, Texas.
Sarita worked as a loan officer, a role that reflected her strong sense of responsibility and the trust others placed in her. In her personal life, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in sharing special moments with those around her. She especially enjoyed dancing and playing bingopastimes that brought laughter, happiness, and connection to her life.
Sarita was preceded in death by her parents, Vivan Cortinez and Genoveva Gonzales; her husband, Armando V. Luera; her brother, Arnold Cortines; her son, Robert Luera; her granddaughter, Jessica Barrera; and her great-grandson, Jordiah Renson.
She is survived by her children, Christopher, Mark, and Armando. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brianna Rodriguez, Erica Rendon, Christopher Luera, Justin Luera, Cristian Dorantes, Damien Luera, and Javier Rendon; her great-grandchildren, Madison Luera, Anthony Dorantes, Aaron Sanchez, Deseree Rendon, Mercedes Sanchez, Damian Sanchez, Jesse Rendon, Eva Rendon, and Adriel Rendon; and her great-great-grandchildren, Rey Rendon, Azaleah Powell, and Leylani Powell.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Brianna, Erica, and Deseree, her granddaughters, for the loving care and compassion they showed Sarita during her final years.
