Sharon Annette Darnell

Sharon Annette Darnell passed away on May 24th, 2026, at home with loved ones by her side.

Sharon was born on October 3, 1938, in Lisbon, North Dakota, to Gordan and Florence Thomason.She married her "Wow", Ray Darnell, on August 29, 1958, in Southern CA. In Southern CA Sharon started her education at the University of California, Northridge, earning a degree in Home Economics.Her love of learning and teaching, drove her to earning enough credits for a double Master's Degree. She graduated from Fresno Pacific with a Master's in Counseling/Education. The majority of Sharon's teaching career was working with Sierra Joint Union High School, retiring in 2002.Sharon and Ray had a heart for children in need. Besides loving and raising their own children, they brought in many foster children through their lifetime. This changed the lives of many for good. They never turned anyone away.Sharon was preceded in death by both her parents, brother, Sherman and her husband of 67 years, Ray.She is survived by her two sisters, Suellen Velthuis and Sandi Concannon and her husband Mike, her 4 children, Denise Scott, her husband Wayne, Michael Darnell, Patrick Darnell, his wife Julie, and Kari Darnell, fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.Gma'D will be deeply missed.
