Sharon M. Ingracia Placht

Sharon M. Ingracia Placht, of Troy, Illinois, and San Antonio, Texas, passed away on June 6, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born on May 28, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, where she spent her childhood and early years.

Sharon graduated from McCleur North High School in 1964. She enjoyed a successful career as a beautician, eventually owning and operating her own salon in the St. Louis area. Later in life, she proudly continued her familys legacy by taking over her fathers business, Sams Open Market in Collinsville, Illinois. She concluded her professional career at Insta-Credit in Collinsville, retiring in 2018.

A woman of deep faith, Sharon was actively involved in her church family at Bulverde Baptist Church in Bulverde, Texas. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided the love and compassion she showed to others.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Ingracia Jr. and Phyllis Walter Ingracia Jameson; her brother, David Ingracia; and her son, Noel Placht.

She is survived by her loving husband, William Placht; her children, Michele McCormick, Marc Leahy, Matthew Jon Leahy, and Matthew David Placht; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Sharon never met a stranger. Everyone who crossed her path quickly became family. She loved people wholeheartedly, offering kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support to those around her. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine care for others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of North Central Baptist Hospital and AcceptCare Hospice for the compassionate care and comfort they provided during Sharon's final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared through family and friends as they become available.
