Shelvia Faulkenberry Foreman

August 19, 2026 Dignity Memorial

Shelvia Faulkenberry Foreman, 86, of Willow Springs, North Carolina, passed away on August 19, 2026, after a life filled with faith, family, friendship and love.

Born March 24, 1940, in Lancaster, South Carolina, Shelvia was the daughter of George and Mary Faulkenberry and the fourth of five children. Her parents and four siblings preceded her in death.

Shelvia's faith was central to her life. A prayer warrior, she found joy in serving her church throughout the years—singing in the choir, volunteering in the nursery and helping wherever she could.

She treasured her family and a special circle of long-term friends who gathered regularly over meals to laugh, cry and support one another through out all of life's seasons. She loved cats and animals of all kinds, trips to the beach, time on her swing, flowers and gardening. And there always seemed to be room in her yard for one more flower or piece of yard art—even if it meant one more thing for someone to mow around.

Shelvia was the loving mother of Mark Plyler and his partner, Donald; Ken Foreman; Sheila Watford and her husband, Vic; and Brian Foreman and his wife, Denise.

She delighted in being grandmother to Eric and his wife, Madison; Tamara; Jessica; Jeffrey; Winn; and Adria, and great-grandmother to Eric and Madison's children, Declan, Doug and Alena Pearl.

Shelvia's life was rich in the things that matter most: faith, family, friendship, kindness, service and love. Her family and friends will carry forward the love she gave so freely, the prayers she offered so faithfully, the laughter shared around countless tables, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures.

Shelvia will be remembered with tremendous love—and surely with a smile whenever someone has to mow around one more thing in the yard.

Brown-Wynne, 300 Saint Mary's St., Raleigh, NC, is serving the Foreman family.
