Steven Lee Stafford Sr.

Steven Lee Stafford, Sr., age 72, of Saraland, Alabama, passed away on September 27, 2026. A native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Steven moved to Saraland at the age of 12, where he would build a life dedicated to family, service, and community.

Steven graduated from Satsuma High School in 1972. He went on to serve the people of Saraland as a police officer for 31 years. His years in law enforcement reflected his commitment to protecting and serving his community, and he remained proud of the people and place he called home.

Steven was a longtime member of Pentalpha Lodge #804, where he had been a member for more than 30 years. His faith, his commitment to others, and his love for his family were important parts of his life.

On July 23, 2026, Steven celebrated his 72nd birthday. He was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He enjoyed hunting and collecting guns, but above all, he loved his family. He especially cherished his wife, Teresa, and took great delight in doting on her and their beloved pets, Maxie and Speckles. His love for his family was evident in the way he cared for them and in the memories he leaves behind.

Steven is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Teresa Stafford; his sister, Kathleen Waite, and brother-in-law, Robert Waite; his stepdaughter, Vickie Smith, and son-in-law, Joshua Smith; his grandchildren, Rachel Price, Kylie Smith, Madison Lash, and Lilly Smith; and his great-grandchildren, Nolan Smith and Iris Smith. He is also survived by his beloved pets, Maxie and Speckles.

He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Stafford, Sr.; his mother, Mary Lou Stafford; and his brother, James T. Stafford, Jr.

Steven's life was one of service, devotion, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave, the service he provided, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Family visitation will begin at 9:15 a.m., followed by visitation for friends at 10:00 a.m.
