Valerie Lynnette Grayson, 46, passed away on July 30, 2026. Born February 14, 1980, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina.
Valerie attended West Mecklenburg High School and was a member of the class of 1998.
In the life she built and the people she loved, Valerie found her greatest joys in spending time with her grandkids and settling in to watch her shows—simple, steady comforts that reflected the warmth she brought to those around her.
Valerie will be remembered most for her heart, and for the lasting imprint of care and tenderness she leaves with all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Manika Demary (Demarcus), Tavon Morris, and Teshon Morris; grandchildren, Deuce Demary, and Malaya Lanae Demary; father, Arthur Grayson; brother, Daniel Grayson (Audra); sister, Jennifer Oliver (Rick); nieces and nephews, Austin, Ashley, Johnny, Sidney, Alivia; and her best friends that were as close as sisters, Angie Mullis, Ivey Link, and Meera Ivester.
Valerie was preceded in death by her mother, Karen Grayson, and brother, Stephen Grayson.
A memorial service will be held at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227, on August 15, 2026, at 1:00 pm, and the family will receive friends following the service.
