Originally from Richmond, Va Vernell lived in San Diego for over 60 years. She is preceded in death by her youngest son Irvin Imara-Jua Floyd and survived by her eldest son Eugene Cortez Floyd, Jr., and her grandchildren Savana Floyd and Xavier Floyd of Fresno, California.
