William Daniel Rutt

September 27, 2026 Dignity Memorial

William “Bill” Daniel Rutt, 71, passed away in his home on September 27, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Bill was born on March 1, 1955, in Alamosa, Colorado, to Gerald Rutt and Neydene (Daniels) Robertson. He was raised in Loveland, Colorado, where he graduated from Loveland High School in 1974.

On February 9, 1980, Bill married Betty Pineda at St. John Catholic Church in Loveland. Together, they built a life centered around family and the many memories they shared over the years.

Bill was a dedicated and hardworking man throughout his life. He spent 30 years with Hewlett-Packard, where he held many different positions over the course of his career. He later worked for Agilent Technologies and the Greeley Tribune before eventually becoming a Utilities Operator at the University of Northern Colorado. After a lifetime of dedication and service, Bill retired in September 2025 and was able to enjoy more time doing the things he loved and being with the people who meant the most to him.

Outside of work, Bill enjoyed the simple things in life, especially anything that allowed him to be outdoors. He loved camping, fishing, listening to music, and spending time outside with his family. He especially enjoyed sitting outside, listening to and watching the birds, and simply taking in the peace of the outdoors. He also enjoyed watching movies and spending quiet time at home.

Bill had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for being funny, often bringing laughter and smiles to those around him. He had a way of making memories out of the ordinary moments, and his family will always remember his jokes, laughter, and the happiness he brought into their lives.

One of Bill’s greatest joys was being a grandfather. He loved having adventures with his grandchildren and creating memories with them. Whether they were enjoying the outdoors, spending time together, or simply having fun, Bill treasured those moments. To his grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather--he was their Papa, and he will always be remembered as the best Papa they could have asked for.

Bill also had a heart for serving others. He volunteered as a firefighter with the Milliken Fire Department and assisted with emergency medical services, giving his time to help his community and those in need.

Above all, Bill loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Betty Rutt; daughter, Heidi (Craig) Elliott; son, William Alexander (Leena) Rutt; brother, Wayne Rutt; sister, Cindy Rutt; brother-in-law Frank (Donna) Pineda; grandchildren, Harper, Emma, and Cabrea Elliott, and Isabella, Josiah, and Angel Rutt; and great-granddaughter, Arella Rutt.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Rutt and Neydene Robertson; his grandparents, Alex and Christine Rutt; and his mother-in-law, Mary Griego.

Bill will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his sense of humor and ability to make others laugh, his willingness to serve others, his love of the outdoors, and most importantly, the deep love he had for his family. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched, the adventures and memories shared with his grandchildren, and the countless memories of laughter and love shared by those who knew and loved him.

A service honoring Bill’s life will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service, Macy Chapel. A small reception will follow the service.
