William Henry Johnson of Middle Island, New York, passed away on April 29, 2026, at the age of 82. He was born on October 30, 1943, in Huntington, New York.
Bill was the beloved husband of 34 years to Kathy, and a devoted father to Mark Johnson (the late Kelly) and Kerry Lockwood (Don). He was also a caring stepfather to Laura Russo and Stacy O’Connor. Bill was a cherished grandfather to Erin (Chris), Michael (Shawntel), Kirstin (Jack), Shannon, Scotty, Elizabeth (Chris), Brianna, Victoria, Maggie, Meredith, Jenni, Cassidy, and Dylan, and an adored great-grandfather to Joe and Brooks.
He is survived by his dear siblings, Howard (the late Donna) and Barbara McNally (Frank).
Bill lived a full and active life. In his younger years, he was an accomplished basketball player, earning All-Star recognition in high school and continuing to play at the collegiate level. He remained a passionate sports fan throughout his life, always cheering on his favorite teams—the Jets, Mets, and Knicks.
He had a love for travel and was fortunate to visit many beautiful destinations, including Paris, Hawaii, Ireland, and Norway. Professionally, Bill served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Publishers Clearing House. He later contributed his time and talents as the editor of the Spring Lake Community News, was a former treasurer of the East Northport Fire Department, and held the role of Vice President of the Rocky Point Lion’s Club.
Above all else, Bill was a family man. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
A visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. A prayer service will take place on Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Closing words will be offered by the funeral director on Wednesday at 10:15 AM, followed by interment at Northport Rural Cemetery, 23 Sandy Hollow Road, Northport, NY 11768.
Bill will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
