It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Willis Bruce Fowler, on Saturday, August 30, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, in 1940, Bruce spent his life in the Eastern Townships. Inquisitive by nature and always interested in how things worked, he had a lifelong passion for car racing, vintage British cars and motorcycles, aviation, and all things mechanical.
A defining part of Bruce’s life was his machine shop, which he owned and operated alongside his wife and son for 46 years. Bruce never turned down an adventure. He especially loved taking road trips in his vintage British cars, happily fixing whatever broke along the way and then carrying on. He approached life in much the same way, with curiosity, good humour, and an easygoing nature.
He also loved the outdoors; working in the woods, spending time at his sawmill, and making maple syrup. He found great satisfaction in working with his hands, building, repairing, and giving old engines life again.
Bruce remained remarkably happy-go-lucky throughout his life. He will be remembered for his easy manner, kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. He found genuine enjoyment in the people, projects, and adventures that filled his life.
Bruce was the son of the late Alta Pease and Alexander Fowler. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Diane, his daughter, Emily, and his son, Matthew, as well as family, friends, and many others whose lives he touched over the years.
He was a deeply loved husband, father, and friend, and he will be greatly missed.
