Bonnie Sue Hopkins

Bonnie Sue Hopkins was born December 24, 1946, to Londell and Helen Wilson Hopkins in Mineral Springs, Arkansas. She passed away on May 30, 2026, in Spring, Texas.

She completed high school at Howard County High School in Tollette, Arkansas and obtained her B.S. Degree in Sociology at the University of Arkansas, Pine Bluff.

Upon her arrival to Houston, she joined Mount Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in greater Fifth Ward Houston, under Rev. A. Louis Patterson, Jr., where her faith grew. Later, she joined Fallbrook Church in North Houston, actively participating in women’s, prayer, and book club ministries.

She retired as a Community Relations Consultant for the Houston Police Department, where she enjoyed working in the community, especially with Ministers Against Crime and the Grandparents Gala.

Her passions included writing, traveling, and spending time with loved ones. She authored five inspirational novels: SEASONS, DESTINY, NOW AND THEN AGAIN, BEYOND THE BREAK, & FRAGMENTS, which received awards and recognitions.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Donald, Jimmy Wayne, and Bobby Hopkins, and niece Taylor Hopkins. She is survived by her daughter Kym Fisher, grandchildren Nick and Sydnee Fisher, bonus granddaughter Brittani Fisher, sisters-in-law Angela Nelson Hopkins and Barbara Hopkins, niece Christal Hopkins, nephews Bobby and Justin Hopkins, and great grandson Amir Carson. Many relatives, friends, and church members mourn her.

Her favorite scripture was Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 6, 2026, at Roland Piggee Memorial Baptist Church in Lockesburg, Arkansas, followed by interment in Graves Chapel Cemetery.
