George M. Hail Jr.

George M. Hail Jr, age 87, of Freeport, passed away peacefully July 5, 2026 in Navasota, Texas. He was born on July 29, 1938 in Houston, TX to George and Bennie Hail. George was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law John Share.

As the eldest child, George grew up in Houston, TX. He graduated in 1956 from Spring Branch High School. He then attended Texas A&M in College Station and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. While at A&M George was student athletic trainer for the football team.

George was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Lake Jackson. He enjoyed volunteering at the church and served as a eucharistic minister in homes and prisons for over 30 years. During his free time he loved watching sports, especially the Aggies, reading investment magazines and books, and being a helping hand around his community. One of his favorite activities was fishing at his Bay house on Demi John Island with Father Leo. If George was not fishing he was bragging about his beautiful granddaughters.

George is survived by his daughter Staci Yvette Hail Dupree, twin granddaughters, Chloe Rae Mervine and Kelsey Rae Harris, great-grandchildren, Perla Jean Mervine and Cal Charles Harris, Sister Barbara Truit, nephew Robert Share and wife Deanna, and John Share and partner Chuck.
