Gregorio Alberto Orona

Gregorio Alberto (Beto) Orona of Houston, Texas, entered into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior on August 18, 2026. He was born on March 12, 1938, to Olivia and Pedro Orona in Long Mott, Texas.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, earning the Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter Medal (Rifle M-1). Once he completed his active duty, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve until his honorable discharge in August 1967.

He married Angelita Salas on September 25, 1965. They moved from Robstown, Texas, to Houston in 1968. Together, Beto and Angelita shared 55 years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, perseverance, and commitment. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Ruby and Brenda.

Beto spent much of his working life as a Master Plumber in the commercial industry. He was an amazing provider for his family and understood the value of an honest day’s work. He carried that sense of responsibility throughout every aspect of his life.

Beto was a strong man of faith. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, especially while celebrating the holidays. One of his favorite pastimes was watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.

To his family, Beto was much more than a hardworking man; he was their source of strength, wisdom, and guidance. Although he was quiet and reserved, when he spoke, his words carried meaning.

Beto was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angelita; his parents, Pedro and Olivia Orona; and his siblings: Guadalupe Orona, Victor Orona, Sabas Orona, Maria Luz Orona, and Seferina Gomez.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Ruby Melchor and her husband, David Melchor; his daughter Brenda Vasquez and her husband, Gilbert Vasquez Jr.; and his grandchildren, David Gregory Melchor, Annalise Victoria Melchor, Gilbert Vasquez III, and Brianna Olivia Vasquez, along with many other loving family members.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for every act of kindness and expression of love shown. It has truly warmed our broken hearts.
