Jewel (Cato) Walker

Jewel Cato Walker was born on November 10, 1932, to Joshua Cato and Essie Mae Strambler-Cato in La Grange, Texas. Jewel was the oldest of five children, Raymond Chester Cato, Jesse James Cato, Leslie Lee Cato, and Vernon Leon Cato.Jewel graduated from Randolph High School in La Grange, Texas later she graduated from People Business College in Austin, Texas.Jewel accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Warda, Texas. Later she became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend S.A. Davis in 1956.She was a very active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, she was in the choir, women’s ministry, in the Silver Soldiers, a deaconess, and she was Church clerk for over 44 years.She valued her membership at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend S.A. Davis, later the Reverend Doctor G.V. Clark, now Reverend Doctor Daryl L. Horton.She was married to the late Deacon James D. Walker.She was preceded in death by her parents; and two of her siblings Raymond C. Cato and Leslie Lee Cato.She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brothers Jesse James (Robbin) Cato of Fort Worth, Texas and Vernon (Catherine) Cato of Hutto, Texas. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Church family, and friends.
