Jimmy Neal Mosley, 76, of Pelham, Alabama, passed away on August 21, 2026. He was known to family and friends as “Jim” or “Moe.” He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on December 26, 1949, to Talmadge Daniel Mosley and Pauline Blackwell Mosley.
Jim was a 1969 graduate of Jemison High School, where he played basketball and football. He was the lead singer in a rock band with several of his classmates. He continued his education at the University of Montevallo, where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity.
Jim devoted 41 years of his professional career to Alabama Power Company. As a Current Diversion Investigator, he investigated the theft of electrical power — work of which he was especially proud.
Jim remained active with the Alabama Power Energizers and was a member of Church of the Highlands. For many years, he was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and served as Youth Director for several years. Later, at Church of the Highlands, he participated in a men’s prayer group and served on the Prayer Team.
Jim loved to laugh. His granddaughter Wesleigh, comedy, and slapstick humor could always make him smile. He enjoyed Civil War reenactments, singing, dancing, and theater. His musical tastes included contemporary Christian music and Motown. Asked how he had lived his life, he wrote simply, “The best I can!”
When asked to name his proudest family moments, Jim answered, “So many to list.” He called having a daughter as wonderful as Erica one of his greatest achievements. When asked what he loved most, he named Erica and Wesleigh, Church of the Highlands, and Jesus Christ.
Above all, Jim hoped others had learned from him “how to laugh, put God first in your life, and trust in God.” He wished to be remembered as fun-loving, compassionate, generous, giving, a good listener, friendly, and warm. Those who knew and loved him will remember him in exactly those ways.
