Hannelore M. Morton, age 86, of Pelham, AL, passed away on July 31, 2026. She was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany, on December 24, 1939, to Willy and Hilda Motsch. In August of 1967, she married the love of her life, Michael W. Morton, beginning a marriage built on love, faithfulness, and devotion. Hannelore was a devoted homemaker, standing faithfully by her husband, enjoying raising her children, and nurturing her home. Family was her life's purpose. She had a love for fashion, arts and crafts, and also had a passion for dance and music. Hannelore valued fitness and found joy in movement and physical wellness. She found happiness in staying active, embracing an unwavering commitment to her well-being.
Hannelore possessed an insatiable curiosity and a lifelong love of learning. An avid reader with a deep appreciation for history. She found joy in understanding the stories of the past and carried with her the strength, resilience, and perspective of a proud first-generation immigrant. She treasured her heritage while embracing new beginnings. She carried a profound appreciation for the journey that shaped her life.
She leaves behind her children, Michael Morton (Sandi), Patricia Budny (Patrick), Pamela Morton (Maurice), and Mark Morton (Catherine); grandchildren, Cherie, Johnathan, Gina, Erin, Cari, Alex, Katelyn, Danielle, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, D'Anthony, Daniel, Zoey, Kayden, and John Michael; and sister, Lisalota Brumback.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6th 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with a service to follow in the chapel at Southern Heritage at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow the service.
