John Kenneth Cortez

Pastor John Kenneth Cortez, born on January 22, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas passed away from this earth on Monday, July 6, 2026, into eternal life where he celebrates with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know he heard the words that we all long to hear from Abba Father, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

John served in the Army as a medic in Japan and was a World War II veteran. He also served with the San Antonio Police Officer’s Department for ten years. He graduated Logos Christian College, earning a Bachelor of Theology and a Doctor of Philosophy degree. He was a member of The American Legion, founder of The Arc in San Antonio, which was an outreach program for alcoholics. John became a legend among the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA ) global fellowship in contributing his leadership, time, love, and dedication, to so many lives around the world. He also founded the I Am the Alpha and the Omega Missionary Christian Center.

Apart from his personal life, he also dedicated his spiritual life as an ordained minister, serving and sacrificing himself for the good of others. He traveled the world as an evangelist and servant of the Lord, impacting the lives of thousands. He had the gift of prophecy, being a seer, healing, miracles, and being powerfully used through the Holy Spirit. His heart was full of the love of God for others. He truly became a father to the fatherless. Pastor “Johnny C” left behind quite an impressive impact on thousands of lives.

Everybody who knew him can say that nothing could keep him down. No sickness, no disease, no injury, no adversity, or hardship. His determined perseverance was immeasurable and unshakeable, just like his faith in God.

His journey here on earth was filled with a life of surprises, excitement, and unexpected adventures. He was indeed a very honorable man who will be enormously missed but never forgotten, living in the hearts of all those who loved him. He can rest now. He fulfilled his destiny.

He is predeceased by his daughters Stella Flores and Theresa Cortez. He is survived by his children, Lilly Schooman, Yvonne and Consuelo Cortez, Jasmine Hartswick, John, David, Daniel, Christopher, Brian, Patrick, and Adam Cortez. Also, by his 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife Lexus.
