Joylene Annette Doss, lovingly known to her family and friends as “Nanny,” of Taylor, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on August 21, 1932, to Alfred and Helen Rathke. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the heart of her family.
On January 6, 1951, Joylene married the love of her life, Bill Doss. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to their family. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment and partnership that lasted for decades.
To everyone who knew her, she was simply Nanny. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She loved playing cards around the table, trying her luck at bingo and scratch-offs, crocheting gifts for those she loved, and baking treats that brought everyone together. One of her favorite times of the year was Christmas. Nanny was always excited for Christmas night at her house, where family gathered, memories were made, laughter filled the room, and her love for her family was on full display.
Nanny will be remembered for her warm heart, her welcoming home, her sense of humor, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone around her. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
