Larry C. Leavitt

Larry Craig Leavitt, 84, formerly of Auburn, Phippsburg and Lisbon Falls, passed away at his residence on July 16th unexpectedly following declining health.

Born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston on March 7th 1942 to the late Harold E. Leavitt Jr. and June (Grant) Leavitt. He grew up enjoying and participating in High School basketball and football, loving his cars especially his GTO’s, music and dancing, family and holiday gatherings, farming, walking in nature, hunting with his brother Lance, and sharing conversations during doctor appointments. Larry loved listening to music, especially Elvis Presley, and had a love for animals, caring for family pets. He took pride in his home and yard and enjoyed riding his tractor.

Larry attended Edward Little High School, graduating in 1961, and then went to the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He worked at BIW in Bath for over 30 years, retiring early in the 1990s, then worked at Staples for 12 years until health issues prompted full retirement.

He is survived by his wife Robin J. Leavitt; daughters Tracy Dickau and husband James, Joline Sullivan and Eugene Jr., Laura Chandler and husband Anthony; grandchildren James MacDonnell Jr, Amy Cailler, Andrew MacDonnell, Sean MacDonnell, Nicole Sullivan; great-granddaughter Alexis MacArthur; great-grandson Andrew MacDonnell Jr.; siblings Delores Wetter and Berwyn Wetter, Lance Leavitt and wife Lisa, Ruth Marie Leavitt; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and beloved dog Leo.

A funeral service will be held on July 24th at The Fortin & Pinette Group, Auburn, with burial at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society.
