Sanyu Nabosa Kibuka Ntanda

May 18, 2026 Austin, Quebec Dignity Memorial

It is with profound love and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Sanyu Nabosa Kibuka Ntanda, 45, of Houston, Texas. Sanyu passed away on Monday, the 18th of May 2026 surrounded by her family, leaving a legacy of determined grace, fierce strength, and boundless compassion.

Born in Virginia to Robin and Rose Kibuka, sister to Tabitha, Cyprian and Kato Kibuka, Sanyu had an insatiable curiosity and a brilliant, creative mind. She was a vibrant and loving character who lived up to her name, which in English means “Joy”. She always had a kind word for everyone and had a knack for bringing out the best in those around her. She graduated from St. Stephens & St. Agnes School, Emory University, and University of Arizona. Then she went on to become an avid author of African storybooks for children, which enabled her to touch and inspire young lives.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sanyu was a force of nature and a beautiful anchor for her loved ones. She had an extraordinary gift for finding wonder in the ordinary and embracing the positive. Whether she was hosting, painting, traveling, or simply sharing a quiet moment with family or friends, she approached life with authenticity and a radiant warmth. Her spirit was defined by her unwavering optimism, her infectious laugh, and elegant dignity, which she carried through every season and relationship of her life. To know her was to be seen, supported, and loved by her.

Sanyu will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her loving husband and best friend of 13 years, Ernest Ntanda; the Ntanda and Kibuka families; countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives she profoundly touched.

A celebration of Sanyu’s life is to be conducted at twelve noon on Friday the 22nd of May in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Friends, family, and all those whose lives she brightened are invited to join in honoring her beautiful memory.
