Svetlana Shevchenko

August 9, 2026 Kirkland, Quebec Dignity Memorial

Svetlana Shevchenko, 55, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, surrounded by her husband.

Svetlana was born on January 29, 1971, in Krasnodarsky Krai, Russia, to Raisa and Yuriy Kuzmin. She married her husband, Pavel, in 1991. Their daughter Katya was born in 1992, followed by their daughter Alena in 1996. In 1999, Svetlana and Pavel made the courageous decision to move their young family to the United States, where they built a new life together.

Svetlana was extraordinarily kind. She was someone who showed her love through caring for others, always willing to help in whatever way she could. Whether she was bringing and administering medicine, offering a kind word, or simply sitting beside someone who needed a comforting presence, Svetlana had a way of making people feel cared for.

She was remarkably strong in spirit; stronger than anyone who loved her could adequately put into words. She carried that strength throughout her life and through her illness with extraordinary resilience.

Perhaps no role brought Svetlana more vitality and joy than being a grandmother. Her three granddaughters, Sasha, Millie, and Ana, gave her tremendous happiness and purpose. Her love for them sustained her, and the time she had with them was among the greatest gifts of her life.

Svetlana leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Pavel; her daughters, Katya and Alena; her sons-in-law, Bharat and Girish; and her beloved granddaughters, Sasha, Millie, and Ana. In her home country, Russia, she is survived by her mother, Raisa; her sister, Natalya; and her nephew, Vadim.

She also leaves behind the many friends and loved ones whose lives she touched through her generosity, kindness, and presence.

Svetlana left this world peacefully, having made it better simply by having been here. She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
