Denise R. Moore, affectionately known as “Biggy,” passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, in San Antonio at the age of 72. Born on January 11, 1954, in Hampton,VA Denise lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Though deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her loving daughter, Jamilah Moxley, and son-in-law, Andre Moxley; her brother, James Randolph, and his wife, Nelda; her aunt, Joyce Cooke; her nieces, Rasheika and Mia Cajanding; her step-grandsons, Miles and Dorian Moxley; her dear friends, Angie Smith and Theola Blackwell, whose friendship meant so much to her; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
A proud graduate of Bethel High School in 1972, Denise continued her education in the mid-1980s at Thomas Nelson Community College. She valued learning and carried herself with dignity, determination, and grace throughout every stage of her life.
Denise dedicated 30 years of faithful service to Sentara CarePlex Hospital, where she worked as a Medical Records Technician and Specialist. She was admired for her incredible work ethic, reliability, kindness, and genuine care for others. Her coworkers knew her as someone they could always count on, and she made a lasting impact not only through her professionalism, but also through the compassion and warmth she brought to those around her each day.
Denise was a Christian whose faith helped guide and strengthen her throughout her life. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures — coloring, watching movies, traveling, and enjoying casino trips. One of her greatest joys was shopping for birthday gifts and special occasions for the people she loved, always searching for thoughtful and meaningful treasures that reflected her generous heart. More than anything, Denise cherished time spent with family and created memories that will forever be treasured.
Those who knew Denise will remember her gentle spirit, loving nature, and the way she made people feel valued and cared for. Her favorite color was purple, a fitting reflection of her beautiful spirit — warm, vibrant, loving, and full of life. She brought comfort, laughter, and happiness to so many.
As Helen Keller once wrote, “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” Denise’s legacy of love, faith, kindness, and devotion will remain forever woven into the hearts of those who loved her.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to shine through the lives she touched and the memories she created. Denise R. Moore will be dearly missed, forever loved, and lovingly remembered always.
