Together, Josefina and William built a family rooted in love, perseverance, faith, and generosity — values that became the foundation of the lives she nurtured and the legacy she leaves behind.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Christine Grace Lacson, and son-in-law Don Karlo Lacson; her youngest daughter, Lorelei Joy Lansang, and son-in-law Randy Z. Lansang; and her cherished grandchildren, Christian Anthony Lacosta, Reilani Kaliya Lacosta, and Graycen Alexander Lacosta, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to her life.
Josefina was also preceded in death by her parents, Celia and Alberto Ignacio Sr., and by her brother, Alberto Ignacio Jr. She is survived by her beloved brothers, Rolando Ignacio, Salvador Ignacio, Lyonel Ignacio, and Diosdado Ignacio, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love, family, and treasured memories.
Family was the center of Josefina’s world. She devoted her life to caring for and uplifting those she loved, and the steady presence who brought everyone together through every season of life.
A woman of remarkable intelligence and determination, Josefina earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting in 1971 from the Philippine Polytechnic University in Manila. Her professional life reflected her strong work ethic and dedication to helping others. From 1979 to 1984, she worked for the World Health Organization in Manila as an Administrative Assistant before immigrating to the United States to begin a new chapter for her family.
In San Diego, Josefina continued her public service with the County of San Diego Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk’s Office, where she worked as an Administrative Secretary IV from 1984 to 1995. Her entrepreneurial spirit and compassionate heart later led her to become the owner and licensee of three residential care homes from 1995 until 2026, dedicating over three decades to caring for the elderly and vulnerable with dignity and kindness. She also served as Executive Officer at Golden Paradise from 2009 to 2010, where she continued her mission of care and advocacy for seniors.
Service to others was woven into every part of Josefina’s life. She volunteered tirelessly with the San Diego Forever Lions Club, sewing beautiful costumes used in cultural dance performances and helping preserve Filipino traditions through art and community.
Through the Residential Care Provider Association of California, she supported fundraising efforts for the Alzheimer’s Association in 2017 and proudly hosted “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” gatherings in her care home. As a devoted member of the La Pieta International Prayer Group, she offered prayers, support, and comfort to those facing hardship, embodying her deep Catholic faith in both word and action.
Josefina’s creativity and talents touched countless lives. She was an extraordinary seamstress who hand-sewed both of her daughters’ prom dresses and lovingly crafted her eldest daughter’s wedding gown — gifts stitched not only with skill, but with a mother’s love. She designed and sewed countless costumes for Larawan Dance Studio and Body Arts Studio and served as a board member of the Larawan Dance Company, helping generations celebrate culture through dance and performance.
She loved to dance, travel, and experience the world. A devoted missionary traveler and faithful Catholic, Josefina attended church weekly and carried her faith with quiet strength and grace. Whether traveling abroad, volunteering in her community, or simply gathering around the dinner table with family, she approached every moment with joy, courage, and gratitude.
Those who knew Josefina will remember her radiant smile, her intelligence, her fierce independence, and the strength that carried her through every challenge life placed before her. She was known for her forgiveness, generosity, and ability to rise to every occasion with dignity and compassion. Her home was always open to anyone in need, and her kindness extended far beyond her family.
Above all, Josefina was the one who held the family together. She created traditions that will forever live on in the hearts of those she loved — especially her beloved Christmas money envelopes and the spirited family games that brought laughter and excitement to every holiday gathering. She made every person feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
Her legacy is one of service, sacrifice, faith, creativity, and unconditional love. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, the countless lives she touched will continue to carry her memory forward. Josefina’s strength lives on in her family, her generosity in her community, and her love in every life she helped shape.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and eternally remembered.
