It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Anne (Solomon) DelVecchio, on June 8, 2026. Karen was surrounded by her loved ones as she transitioned to rest among the stars.
Karen was born in Saginaw, Michigan, October 25, 1944, to Marian Patricia (Driscoll) Solomon and Daniel Boris Solomon. Karen attended Webber Junior High and Saginaw High School, where she starred in many school productions. She also performed with Saginaw’s community theatre, Pit & Balcony, and at Central Michigan University where she attended college. She married Eugene J. DelVecchio, on December 27, 1980, and together they built a life which became a partnership of love, laughter, and unwavering support. They shared many adventures throughout their life together, strengthening a bond that remained steady and deeply rooted for more than four decades. Karen's compassion, creativity, and dedication touched everyone she met. She was a devoted English and Drama teacher whose passion for literature, storytelling, and the arts touched countless lives. She deeply believed in the power of words and imagination and brought that belief into every classroom she entered. Her most beloved position was leading the Buena High School Drama Department, where she poured her heart into every production, rehearsal, and student who stepped onto the stage. To her students, she was far more than a teacher — she was a mentor, an encourager, and an inspiration to generations of students who adored her both inside and outside the classroom. Many of her students remained in contact with her long after graduation, grateful for the profound impact she had on their lives. Her influence shaped young minds, nurtured creativity, and helped countless individuals discover confidence in their own voices. Her legacy lives on in the many students she guided, the colleagues she uplifted, and the family and friends who cherished her. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother whose support, encouragement, and unconditional love, shaped the lives of her children and grandchildren in countless ways.
Karen leaves behind her husband, Eugene J. DelVecchio; her daughter, Kerry L. Nolen, her son, William Liam Racine, her beloved grandchildren, Connor J. Nolen, Kelsey E. Nolen, and Zachary S. Nolen, and her sister, Sheila L. Solomon Shotwell, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love and support. She made lasting friendships throughout her life and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
