Abel Blanco Jr.

Abel Blanco Jr. was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on September 26, 2026, at age 61, leaving behind a heartbroken family who will miss him more than words can ever express.

He is survived by his beloved wife Marisela Blanco Figueroa; his children Eduardo “Lalo” Ortiz (Nohely), Evelyn Abigail Blanco and Amy Eunice Blanco; his grandson Ezra; his sisters Leticia Blanco Aguirre and Norma Blanco and a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends who cherished him. He was preceded in death by his parents Abel and Guadalupe Blanco.

Known for his infectious laugh and life centered around his family, faith and hard work, Abel was a proud member of the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1983-2015, following a legacy of Navy veterans in the Blanco Family. A dedicated member of Vino Nuevo Church for 10 years, his strong faith was central to his life, alongside his honey Marisela and sweet girls Evelyn and Amy. Beautiful memories were made during family vacations to places like Schlitterbahn Waterpark, popular beaches in Mexico and many trips to visit family in Fort Worth. His girls will remember and miss him immensely for his unwavering love, patience, passionate football banter and classic dad humor.

His siblings, Godchildren and cousins will always cherish memories of camping in Ruidoso, trips to Disneyland, playing Nintendo video games, attending rock concerts and geeking out over Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and The X-Files.

While our hearts ache as we say goodbye, we will honor his memory by carrying on the many traits that made Abel a wonderful person to be around. We are immensely grateful for those who can join us for the following services and welcome friends and family to leave pictures and memories on this page.

Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home East, 1460 George Dieter Drive, El Paso, TX 79936, US, on October 5, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

A Committal Service will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906, US, on October 5, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
