Born on April 12, 1936, in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico, Alfonso lived a remarkable life filled with love, gratitude, adventure, and devotion to his family. He made his home in Chula Vista, California, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, generosity, and service to others.

Alfonso was a man who was full of love and gratitude. He had a way of making the people around him feel cared for, valued, and appreciated. His generosity never sought recognition; he simply gave because that was who he was. He showed up for the people he loved with loyalty, honesty, patience, and unwavering support. Everyone around him knew they were loved.

He also had an adventurous spirit and a lifelong curiosity about the world. Alfonso loved learning, exploring new places, trying new things, and sharing those experiences with his family. Whether he was sailing, traveling, flying, watching sports, or simply discovering something new, he approached life with enthusiasm and wonder. Some of his happiest moments were those spent exploring and creating memories with the people he loved most.

Throughout his life, Alfonso was known for his quiet strength and resilience. He faced life’s challenges with dignity and determination, guided by practical wisdom, a strong work ethic, and a calm, steady presence. He earned the respect of those around him not through words alone, but through the way he lived.

Alfonso built a distinguished career as the owner of his own Allstate Insurance Agency for 35 years, serving his community with integrity, care, and dedication. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years and continued his service for four additional years in the reserves. During his time in the Army, Alfonso played soccer and sang in the Army Quartet. His love of music and sports reflected the joy, discipline, and spirit he carried throughout his life.

On September 15, 1995, Alfonso married Elena Renteria. Together, they shared a life grounded in love, commitment, companionship, and mutual support.

Alfonso was the proud father of four children: Julio Alfonso Renteria, Patricia Smith, Alfonso Renteria III, and Ryan S. Renteria. He was also a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to one great-grandchild. His family was one of the greatest joys of his life, and the love he had for them was evident in everything he did.

His interests reflected the richness of the life he lived. Alfonso loved sports, especially soccer, boxing, football and baseball. He loved sailing and fishing, drawn to the freedom and peace of the open water. He also loved to fly and came close to earning his pilot’s

license, another example of his adventurous nature and willingness to continue learning and pursuing new experiences throughout his life.

Alfonso will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the way he made people feel. He will be remembered for his warmth, his gratitude, his curiosity, his generosity, and the deep love he gave so freely to his family and friends.

His legacy lives on in the people he loved, the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the countless memories created through a life filled with purpose, adventure, gratitude, and love.
