Charles "Smokey" Burney Rogers Jr.

Charles “Smokey” Rogers, Jr. of Taylor, Texas passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2026. He was 75 years old. He was born on September 26, 1950 to Charles “Burney” and Virginia Rogers in Taylor, Tx. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1968 and later obtained an Associate’s Art Degree from Temple Junior College. He joined the AirForce in his 20’s, and later obtained his master’s electrician’s license, working at Sandow Power Plant for several years and eventually retiring from State Farm. He married Reginia” Jeanie” to her closest friends and family on June 5th, 1981 and his daughter, Casey Beth was born in July 1984. Casey was the apple of his eye and he shared an extraordinary bond with her. Smokey was a private man who cherished his family and close friends. On his free time and on the weekends, Smokey was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending his time at the deer lease with his friends. He also enjoyed spending lots of time being “Grandpa” to his two grandchildren, Alex and Dustin, and later on in his years, was affectionately known as “Mo” and “Pop Pop” to his other additional grandkids through close friends of the family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Burney” and Virginia Rogers, his wife, Jeanie Rogers, and his sister Cyndi Minnick. He is survived by his daughter, Casey Rogers, and her significant other, Eric; step-son, Richard Jones and wife, Patsy; granddaughter Alexandrea Jones, grandson Dustin Jones and fiance Caylie; brother-in-law, Tom Minnick; sister-in-law, Donna Harris and Twana Benner, brother-in-law, Anthony Niemstchk and wife Vickie, and numerous nieces and nephews. And “honorary“ additional grandkids Callen Maytsek, Easton Matysek, Kinsley Kennedy, and Kaden Kennedy.
