Dorothy Theresa Kretzschmar

Dorothy Theresa Muehr Kretzschmar, born October 17, 1927, age 98, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, at Beehive Homes of Spring Assisted Living Facility.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life, providing her with strength, comfort, and guidance throughout her many years.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmore William Kretzschmar, and her daughter, Janice Marie Kretzschmar. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Agnes Muehr and Richard Muehr, and her siblings, Gertie Herzick, Mildred Kunz, Milton Muehr, Herbert Muehr, Leona Banse, and Loraine Rosa Muehr.

She is survived by her children, Theresa and her husband, Benard; Richard and his wife, Carol; Betty; Thomas; and William and his wife, Melody, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory and the love she gave them in their hearts.

Dorothy lived a life centered around family, faith, hard work, and the simple joys of everyday life. She worked at Mary and Martha's Cafe, where she met the man who would become her husband, Elmore. They were married in Weimar, Texas, later moved to Columbus, Texas, where their first child was born, and eventually settled in Houston, Texas. Their life together became a lasting part of her story and her family’s history.

She especially enjoyed working in her garden and spending time outside in her yard. She found happiness in caring for her flowers and plants and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. Her love of gardening reflected the patience, care, and nurturing spirit she brought to her family as well.

Dorothy will be remembered for the love she gave to her family, her enduring faith, and the many memories she created throughout her 98 years. Her presence will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Though Dorothy has left this earthly life, the love she shared and the memories she created will live on through the generations of her family.

May she rest peacefully in the loving presence of God, reunited with those who went before her.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
