Glenda Merle Copeland

Glenda Merle Copeland, 88, of Slaton, Texas, went home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 25th, 2026. She was born February 27th, 1938, in Bomarton, Texas. Born to Hollie Middleton Shaw and Osie Eura Shaw. At 16 years old, she married the love of her life, Bobby Ray Copeland. They were married for 64 years before his passing.

Known to her family as “Grams”, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She faithfully served at Southcrest Baptist Church where she was a member for 62 years. She taught Sunday school in the children’s area for many years, led ceramics classes, and helped cook Wednesday night meals for the church.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to all she met. She had the gift of hospitality and was always looking to serve others. She was an excellent cook, avid gardener, and loved to fish at Lake Navajo. She loved every single member of her family without reservation. Grams was a determined woman and when she set her mind to something, that was that.

She is survived by her sons, Bryan Copeland and wife, Marsheila; Mark Copeland and wife, Pam; and Kevin Copeland and wife, Robin; and her daughter, Kim Copeland. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Fran Shaw. Her grandchildren include Brad and Christin Copeland, Rachelle and Shawn Fulkerson, Trevor and Ashley Copeland, Chelsea Copeland, Julia Copeland, Chance and Briana Larrentree, Olivia Copeland, Abby Copeland, Stone Copeland, Briggs Copeland, and Rhett Koonce. She leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bobby; parents, Hollie and Osie; sisters, Grace and Mozelle; and brother Mack.

Grams’ legacy will continue in the lives of her family, friends, and all that knew her. She will be deeply missed but thanks be to God for the hope we have in Jesus, we will see her again in glory!
