James Fred Allman was born in Mobile, AL on May 16, 1946, where he remained a lifetime resident. Fred passed away in his home on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
Fred is survived by his wife, Sarah Allman; two sons, Shannon Allman and Todd Allman (Denise); and a foster son, Stephen Delahunty (Lisa).
Fred will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Allman Scott (Michael), Michael Allman, Collier Allman, Sara Allman, Anna Delahunty McGehee (Jonathan), Katie Delahunty Haygood (Harper), Sarah Delahunty, Morgan Brown (Allison and children), Griffin Brown (Anna), and Alana Brown Hynniman (Josh); brother, Richard Gorlott; and extended family we all loved.
Fred retired from the MFRD with 33 years of service and was in the swimming pool business for 25+ years. Fred was also known by many as “Dubs” and “Papa”.
Fred lived a life that speaks for itself and would want to be remembered by his devotion to his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at his residence.
