Jaylan Levi McGill

Jaylan Levi McGill was a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin, brother, and friend whose life, though far too short, left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jaylan was known for his sense of humor, generous heart, and ability to make people laugh, even during difficult times. He had a way of creating memories that would last a lifetime and formed deep, meaningful connections with those around him. He will be remembered for the love he freely gave to family and friends and for the joy and light he brought into their lives.

Born on November 17, 2002, Jaylan was the son of Dennis Mills of Corryton, Tennessee, and Amber McGill of Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

His relationship with his father was growing stronger everyday as they shared a love of music and spent meaningful time together, creating memories that will be forever cherished.

Jaylan and his mother shared a bond that was uniquely their own. Like many mothers and sons, they could occasionally butt heads, but beneath every disagreement was an unwavering love for one another.

He had a special bond with his “Aunt T” (Tina Roberts) whom he loved fiercely, and she loved him so very much! She will miss that voice of his saying…”Hey Aunt T, what’s up? You doing okay?”

Family meant everything to Jaylan. He shared many meaningful moments with his loved ones, where even the simplest times together became treasured memories. He was deeply loved by his family, and he returned that love wholeheartedly.

Jaylan had a passion for football and proudly wore #13 while playing for Kings Mountain High School. Those who knew him remember his dedication to the game, his competitive spirit, and the pride he took in representing his team.

He had a special love for animals and a compassionate heart that extended to every creature he met. Most especially, he loved his dog, Mary. She was more than a pet; she was family. Even long after her passing, Jaylan continued to grieve her loss, a testament to the deep bond they shared and the loyalty that defined his character.

Jaylan enjoyed music, video games, and spending time with the people he loved most. Some of his happiest memories were made playing video games with Junior, sharing countless laughs, stories, and moments that will never be forgotten.

He also cherished his grandmother's homemade chocolate pies, a simple pleasure that always brought him comfort and happiness. Those who knew him can easily picture the smile that came with enjoying a slice, surrounded by family and the people he loved.

One of Jaylan's most treasured possessions was his Ford F-150, which had belonged to his grandfather. The truck represented not only something he loved driving but also a connection to someone who meant so much to him. He took great pride in it and was still driving his grandfather's F-150 at the time of his passing, carrying with him a piece of his grandfather's memory wherever he went.

Later, Jaylan moved to Torrington, Connecticut, where he lived with his best buddy, Junior. During that time, he continued building relationships and creating memories that will not be forgotten.

One of Jaylan's most admirable qualities was his thoughtful and caring nature. He had a way of staying connected with the people he loved, often reaching out with a simple text or phone call just to check on someone. He wanted those around him to know they mattered, and he never missed an opportunity to remind them.

Jaylan will also be remembered with love by Beauregard Groover and all who were fortunate enough to know him. While his time on earth was far too short, those who loved him are grateful for every laugh, every conversation, every shared meal, every road trip, and every moment spent together. The memories he leaves behind are a lasting reminder of how deeply he was loved and how profoundly he will be missed.

His life was a gift. His memory is a blessing. And the love he gave will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

Jaylan was deeply loved, and he returned that love in countless ways. He brought strength, laughter, kindness, and light into the lives of those around him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in every cherished memory, every story shared, and every life he touched.

He will always be loved. He will always be missed. And he will always remain in our hearts.
