Peacefully, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in his 82nd year, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband and best friend of Catherine Stewart for 57 years. Loving and devoted father and father-in-law of Andrew Hiess, and Matthew Hiess and Heydi Blanco. Proud Grandpa of Lucy, Ryan, Melina, David, and Leyla. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Richarda (Ricky) Hiess, and Arthur Hiess and Judy Kucharsky. Joseph will be sadly missed by his nieces, Maya Frati, Rebecca Hiess and Jordana Hiess. Special thanks to the Intensive Care Unit at the Jewish General Hospital for their care, compassion, and kindness.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, October 1 at 12:00 p.m. Burial at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Pointe-Claire. The family will be receiving condolence visits at his son Matthew's home following the burial until 7:00 p.m., Friday from 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. Shiva Monday, October 5 details to follow.
