Lu Hanner Peacock

Lu Anne Hanner Peacock, 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 21, 2026. Known affectionately as “Lu,” she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family and community who will remember her for the love, warmth, and joy she brought to their lives.

Lu was born on December 26, 1960, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late Grady and Evelyn Poplin Hanner. In 1971, Macon became her home, and in 1991, she and her family made Musella their home. Through the years, Lu built deep roots in Middle Georgia and formed friendships and connections that remained an important part of her life.

She was a graduate of Springdale Elementary School and Central High School, Class of 1979, and later attended Macon Junior College. During her high school years, Lu was a member of SMB Sorority and served as a Little Sister for Sedarmoc Fraternity. Her years in school helped shape the friendships and memories she carried with her throughout her life.

Lu spent 27 years working in the advertising and marketing field, where her creativity, personality, and ability to connect with people served her well. She later joined the family business, Macon Battery Company, becoming an important part of a business that was close to her heart.

Lu treasured her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of thirty-seven years, Mike Peacock; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Myra Hanner; niece, Betsy Hanner; and nephews, Charlie Hanner and Dan Hanner. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Lu’s Life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s @ Macon Memorial Park. Dr. Laudis “Rick” Landford and Rev. Paul Dziadul will officiate. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Methodist Home for Children and Youth, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, GA 31204, or to the charity of the donor’s choice in Lu’s honor.

Lu’s life was defined by the people she loved, the places she called home, the work she devoted herself to, and the many relationships she built along the way. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
