Paula Champion

Paula Champion, born June 29, 1937, went to be with our Lord on September 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Paula’s life was rooted in family, and the love she gave will continue through the generations. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ninfa Castillo (Juan†), Maria de Jesus Champion, Juanita Casas (Miguel), Pedro Champion Jr., Jose Angel Champion, and Olivia Longoria (Ricardo). Her legacy also lives on in her 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Hermelinda Cardenas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paula is now reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Pedro Champion; her parents, Jesus and Santos Cardenas; and her siblings.

She had an adventurous spirit and loved catching doves. A wonderful dancer, she never shied away from the dance floor. Her cooking brought warmth and love to every family gathering, and her homemade flour tortillas were simply the best. These treasured memories will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her.

Our family extends our heartfelt gratitude to DHR Health Hospice for the compassionate care, comfort, and support they provided to our beloved grandmother and our family. Their kindness and dedication during her final days will always be remembered with deep appreciation.

Visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel - Highland Funeral Home 6705 FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78599, on October 1, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at San Martin de Porres, 901 N Texas Blvd, Weslaco, TX 78596, on October 2, 2026, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Harlingen Combes Memorial Cemetery, 20969 Sid Jones Rd, Harlingen, TX 78552, US, on October 2, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
