Richard Claude Gawlik

23 septembre 2026 Dignity Memorial

Richard Claude Gawlik, known to many as Dick Gawlik, was born on June 23, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas. He died peacefully at Timberwood Assisted Living on September, 23rd after an extended stay.

He was a “big” man in many ways-size, heart, love for his wife and two daughters, hard worker, family man, head machinist at Lone Star Brewery for 30 years, hunter, and an incredibly gifted “fixer” of many things.

He attended St. Gerard’s High School, played football and baseball, and joined the Football team at the University of Texas as a proud Longhorn. He played collegiate Football for 3 years and then joined the Army in the Spring of 1958.

He was stationed in Germany and enjoyed the assignment of tending to the base Gym.

He returned to the states and was in Army reserve until 1963. He met Imogene Giffen in 1958 at a pool party. They were married and had two children, Terry and Kelly. They lived most of their life in Bulverde, Texas on a 3-acre property on which Dick built many projects.

He and Imogene attended many sporting events and Raptor demonstrations around the country supporting both daughters in their endeavors. They purchased a travel trailer and traveled for 20 plus years targeting National Parks and were particularly fond of Yellowstone and multiple destinations in New Mexico.

He will certainly be missed and is most likely still telling others what to do and how to do it.

A service with full military honors will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, on Thursday, October 8th at 1:45.
