With great sadness, we announce the passing of Richard Lans, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished member of his family, on September 29, 2026, at the age of 88.
Richard was the devoted husband of Hedda. Together, they built a life centered on devotion, connection, and the people they held dear. Richard was the loving father of Debra, Robin, and Julie, and a beloved father-in-law to Brian and Steven. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Allan Lans, and sister-in-law, Paula Weiss.
He was a proud grandfather to Jason, Alec, Jamie, Maddie, Jordan, and Michael. His love, pride, and steady presence created memories that will remain with them always.
Richard brought the same dedication and integrity to his professional life. He devoted 33 years to IBM, beginning in payroll and working his way up to become a director. His career took him around the world, including three years living and working overseas in Milan and London. Through each chapter, he carried with him a strong work ethic and a commitment to doing his best.
After moving to Monroe Township, Richard found another meaningful way to serve. During his 21 years as a resident, he became deeply involved in the community, serving in numerous township positions with the goal of making it a better place for everyone. He also served as Board President of the HOA at Regency, along with serving on many other committees. He gave generously of his time and talents, believing that a community grows stronger when people are willing to contribute to its well-being.
Richard will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy shaped by family, service, and the many lives he touched through his work and community involvement. His memory will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, extended family, and the generations to come.
