Susan Edith Geddes passed away peacefully at her home in Marysville, Washington, on August 16, 2026 surrounded by her family and blanketed in love.
Susan grew up on a farm just South of the Skykomish River in Monroe, WA with her twin sister Sally. Susan attended Monroe High School and later Everett Community College, before devoting her time to raising children. She was co-owner and operator of Oster’s Candy Kitchen in Monroe with Doris Oster in the late 70s.
Susan’s faith was instilled early and remained important to her throughout her life. The relationships she acquired and maintained over sixty years with those who shared her faith were pillars for her when she needed support.
Susan and Ed owned and managed a marine retail store and the historic Geddes Marina on Ebey Slough in Marysville, Washington until retiring in 2010. In an Everett Herald article, Susan once summed up her feelings for the marina’s tenants simply: “We love our people.”
Susan and Ed shared a deep love of the water. They spent many happy years cruising the San Juan Islands and the Inside Passage aboard their 45’ power boat, creating treasured memories together along the waterways of the Pacific Northwest.
An avid flower gardener, Susan had a remarkable green thumb. Her beautiful flowers brightened the grounds of her Priest Point home, as well as the homes of her children, friends, and extended family.
Susan was preceded in death by her twin sister, Sally Pfeiffer.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Ed Geddes; their son, Jonathan Geddes; her son, David Oster and his wife, Melissa; her grandchildren Logan and Natasha and her nieces Suzanne and Brenda.
Susan will be remembered for her generous heart, her nurturing spirit, her love of family, flowers, animals, and the water, and for the beauty and kindness she brought into the lives of those around her.
