William "Eddie" Glass

William “Eddie” Glass, 68, of Portland, Oregon, was born February 22, 1958, in Portland, Oregon, to Henry and Lavoria Glass, and God called him home on August 9, 2026. Eddie’s life was marked by steady devotion—to God, to work, and above all to the people he loved most.Eddie was a man who understood the dignity of showing up and doing what needed to be done. He worked hard at the shipyards while studying to become a lawyer, carrying his responsibilities with quiet determination and a deep sense of purpose. Through it all, his faith remained a guiding light.Family was never a slogan to Eddie—it was a way of living. He often said, and lived by, “Family First,” a simple truth he carried into every season of life. He became a father in 1977 to his firstborn son, Darshawn Cross, and later welcomed daughters Sherita, Edna, Lolita, and Sherrice. Eddie was preceded in death by his soulmates, Debra Cross and Delores Moore.Eddie was also preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lavoria; his son, Darshawn Cross; and his siblings, Ann Lee, Johnny Orr, and Nettie Sandifer.Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Sherita, Edna, Lolita, and Sherrice; his siblings, Kenneth Orr, Thelma Stone, Shelton Glass, Verna Glass, and Evelyn Williams; his grandchildren, L’Don Archie Jr., Jason Benton Jr., Dontreona Archie, Justus Benton, La’Don Archie, Mia Stephens, Khalilah Pope, Cedric Pope, and Darshawn Cross; and his great-grandchildren, Kasai Harris and Khole Harris.Eddie will be remembered as a beloved, faithful, hard-working man—one who built his life on love, conviction, and the kind of loyalty that steadies a family for generations. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the faith he held close, and the enduring strength of a family that will continue to carry him forward. May he rest peacefully. Amen.
