Alberta Davis

On December 2, 1947, Alberta was born in Austin, Texas, to the late Benjamin Franklin House Jr. and Velma House. She was the third of seven children born to this union. At an early age, Alberta accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with St. Mary’s Colony Baptist Church in Dale, Texas. Later in life, Alberta moved her church membership to Christian House of Faith, where she continued to grow in faith and fellowship.

Alberta attended L. C. Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. Although she did not graduate with her class, her determination to complete her education never faded. She later returned to school and proudly earned her GED, proving that perseverance and dedication can make any goal attainable.

In 1964, Alberta was united in holy matrimony to John Hart.

To this union, four children were born.

Alberta dedicated 25 years of service as a prep cook at Dobie Mall, where she was known for her hard work and commitment. Outside of work, she found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing spades and dominoes with family and friends and enjoyed spending peaceful days fishing. Her warm smile, sense of humor, and love for those around her made every gathering special.

Alberta was preceded in death by her children, Sandra House, Anthony Hart, John Hart, Nathaniel Hart, and Marcie Hart; her parents, Benjamin Franklin House Jr. and Velma Cavanaugh; and her brothers, Milton A. House, Harvey House, Willie House, and Larry House.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving son, Reginald Hart (Anita); her grandchildren, Cedric Hill, Reginald Hart Jr. (Christina), Meisha Hart, Maya Hart, Derrick Early, Harvey Taylor (Unique); her sisters, Esther Tillis and Rosie Hawkins; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the love, strength, and kindness she shared throughout her life.

Alberta’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and unconditional love for her family. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will remain a source of comfort, inspiration, and enduring love.
