Amalia Jens

Amalia Jens, 85, of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026.

Born on January 21, 1941 in Pioppo, Sicily, Italy Amalia was the child of Bernardo and Grazia Guardi. She emigrated from Palermo with her immediate family on the Italian vessel “Vulcania”, and arrived on February 25, 1956 at Pier 84 in New York City.

Her family settled in Astoria, NY where she began working in her uncle’s bakery while also learning English and finishing high school. She loved music, singing and church, but will always be remembered for the passion, dedication, and love she had for her family and those around her.

Amalia is survived by her children Edward (Gabrielle) Jens, Bernard (Anne) Jens, and Christina (Francisco) Collado; beloved grandchildren Lily, Rose, Giuliana, Francisco, Edward, Dylan, Gleason, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Benjamin; her sister Rose Palazzo, sister-in-law Kathleen Connelly and her nieces and nephews.

Amalia was preceded in death by her husband Edward J Jens, and sister Concetta Bondi.

Visitation will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675, US, on May 20, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 69 Valley St, Hillsdale, NJ 07642, US, on May 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 500 Fairview Ave, Fairview, NJ 07022, US, on May 21, 2026, from 11:45 am to 12:00 pm.
