Andrew C. Allen

A life marked by quiet strength, infectious laughter, and an unwavering sense of duty came to a peaceful close on August 20, 2026, when the world said goodbye to Andrew Charles Allen — known warmly to all who loved him as Berhane — at the age of 75.

Born on December 13, 1950, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Berhane carried within him a spirit that was both steadfast and generous from his earliest days. He answered his country's call and devoted twenty three and a half honorable years to the United States Army, ultimately earning the distinguished rank of Sergeant Major. His was not a career measured merely in rank and years, but in the respect he commanded and the loyalty he inspired in those who served alongside him. After retiring from military life, he continued to build and contribute — lending his talents to Nortel before channeling his entrepreneurial drive into Proptek, a business that bore his signature work ethic. He furthered his education through Central Texas College, adding yet another chapter to a life defined by self improvement and perseverance.

Above all else, Berhane was a family man. His beloved wife, Haimanot, was the love of his life — the constant beside whom every triumph was sweeter and every hardship lighter. He was immeasurably proud of his sons, Brian and Marc, his firstborn and his pride, and he delighted in his grandson Jie, whose presence brought him unmistakable joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Ann Lewis and Karen Allen-Williams, and his brothers, David, Charles, and Duane — a family that knew him as both protector and comedian, the one who could make a room laugh and then quietly be the first to show up when someone needed him most.

In quieter moments, Berhane could be found with a fishing line in the water or music filling the air - simple pleasures that restored him. He was hardworking, funny, generous, and dependable in all the ways that matter most.

A Funeral Service will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, 1615 South Fort Hood Road, Killeen, Texas, on September 3, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. A Committal Service with full military honors will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas, at 11:00 a.m.
