It is with profound sadness and yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Danuta Kelman on May 23, 2026. Born on September 23, 1940, in the city of Warsaw, Poland, Anna was a beacon of love, warmth, and intelligence, who touched countless lives throughout her remarkable 85 years. Anna was the cherished daughter of the late Janek Festinger and Lucia Altenberg, who instilled in her the values of kindness and education that she carried with her throughout her life. These values guided her to pursue a Master’s degree in Education, a testament to her unwavering belief in the power of knowledge and her commitment to nurturing future generations. As a dedicated teacher and educator, she spent decades inspiring young minds, leaving an indelible mark on her students and colleagues alike. Her classroom was not only a place of learning, but a sanctuary of encouragement and warmth, reflecting her innate ability to make everyone feel valued and understood.
Anna taught at Laurel School and the Jewish Community Center of Cleveland.
Anna was married to her beloved Samuel M., with whom she shared many joyful years. Together, they built a family rooted in love and mutual respect. She is survived by her devoted children, daughter, Adina (Mark) Davidson and son, Ari (Lesley) Kelman, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her legacy continues through her four adored grandchildren, Joshua (Rebecca Richman) Davidson, Rachel (Riasa Cabrera) Davidson, Jacob Kelman and Benjamin Kelman. and four great-grandchildren, Netta, Adar, Oshri and Lia, each of whom brought immense happiness to her days. Dear sister of Jonathan (Corinne Zimmerman) Festinger. Anna’s eyes would light up with joy when surrounded by her family, whether it be sharing stories over family dinners, exploring the wonders of nature on leisurely walks, or settling down for a cherished movie night. A woman of many interests, Anna found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader. Anna was known for her loving, warm, and caring nature. Her smile could brighten the darkest of days, and her thoughtful words had the power to soothe and uplift. She was not only smart and wise, but she also possessed an emotional intelligence that made her a confidante to many. In her passing, Anna leaves behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and learning. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy will inspire future generations to lead lives filled with kindness and compassion.
